Barn Door Hardware

Follow these basic principles to find the perfect barn door hardware
Step 1
Start with your door opening

Measure the width and height of the opening. The barn door you choose should be slightly larger than the opening, so you'll want to add 2"-4" to completely cover the frame.

Pro Tip: If your door has a trim, be sure to measure the width of the door to the edges of trim.

Step 2
Check your wall space

Taking the width of your door frame, measure out the length on the adjacent wall (right or left). Double barn doors require clearance on both sides.

Pro Tip: Doors must be able to fully open without disruptions from objects such as light switches or other immovable objects.

Step 3
Safety First!

Standard doors weigh anywhere between 25 – 90 pounds. Note the weight of the door you are using to ensure the hardware meets the single door weight specifications.

Pro Tip: Adding a header board behind the track increases weight stability of the door.

Step 4
Select your hardware

Take your ideal barn door width and multiply that by two. This number will be your ideal track length.

Pro Tip: For custom lengths, you can purchase an additional kit to extend the length using a connecting adaptor.
